General Meeting Minutes for July 21, 2010

Meeting called to order at7:10 PM, by Pres. Lisa Mitchell
Members Present: Lisa Mitchell, Jeff Mitchell, Bill Russell, Jackie Merritt
Motion by Bill, 2nd. by Jeff, to approve Agenda. Motion passed.
Minutes were read & approved, subject to correction.
Treasurer’s report was given. Balance as of 7/21/10 is $1782.07
Motion by Bill & 2nd. by Jeff to accept report, subject to audit. Motion passed.
There were no committee reports this month.
The 8-80 days festival was reviewed & some changes were discussed and approved.

  1. The parade time will be moved ahead 1 hour to 11: 00 AM Line up will be at 10:00 AM
  2. Karaoke was not a success, drop it and extend time that each band plays.
  3. Enlarge the Arts & Craft area, possibly move to different location & have all vendors in the same area & to go thru SAGA for space rental. Bill will do contacting & check on locations.
  4. Have a softball tournament. Police Dept. may be willing to put on. Jeff to check on.
  5. Have tractor pulls & get contacts & equipment needed early.
  6. See if soccer tournament can be brought into town. Bill will make contact with possible organizer who is involved in soccer.
  7. Check on success of Archery tournament and see if we want to have it next year.
  8. See about having shuttle set up from school to town, to ease traffic & parking problems.
  9. Talked about having map on back of flyer to show where things were located at.
  10. SAGA to take over setting up Car Rally on Main Street & maybe add a Tractor Rally also.

Change to $5.00 fee for cars, give dash plaque, and (2) tickets per car, for cruise to the  races for cars signed up ahead of time. Bill will contact car clubs.
Fundraising was discussed and we need to let VFW know that we wish to help them on a breakfast to raise funds for SAGA.
Other items approved:

  1. A thank you notice, to be put in paper, for all the donations & help to put on the 8-80 days festival this year.
  2. An $80.00 donation toward a new bike, to be part of a drawing, was approved.

It was noted that the Police Dept. will be starting to move their offices, to the Springport Village Office Building. This move should be completed in a short period of time.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM.
