General Meeting Minutes for April 21, 2010

The meeting was called to order by Lisa Mitchell at 7:14 pm at the Springport Township Hall.  Members and guests present included: Megan Merrill, Tim & Linda Griffith, Chuck Arntz, Jeff Mitchell, and Jackie Merritt.
Motion by Megan Merrill and seconded by Bill to approve the agenda as amended.  Motion carried.
Minutes from the March meeting were read by Megan. Motion by Bill to approve the minutes as read, seconded by Jeff.  Motion carried.
For the Treasurer’s Report this month, it was presented that SAGA has a balance of $1,505.33 as of 4/21/10.  A report was given since January with income being website sponsorship and Palm Sunday breakfast and expenses being park lights, post office box fee, neighborhood watch signs, chair holders for the township, and brochure printing.  A 2010 budget was also presented. Motion by Bill and seconded by Megan to receive the report per audit.  Motion carried.
Under committee reports, the Events committee discussed the 2010 8-80 events.  Items were added and discussed, please see the detailed schedule in the Signal, please email Megan Merrill at megan.merrill@springportschools.net to make additions to the agenda by May 1st.  SAGA will have a table at Family Fun Night on Friday April 30th and will have 8-80 Days information and registrations available. SAGA will be giving away small flower pots and balloons during 8-80 Days.
The Fundraising/Membership committee reported that the Palm Sunday breakfast fundraiser made $603.73, thank you to the Centennial House for their support and help.  On Sunday April 25th, SAGA will be working with the VFW on the VFW Breakfast fundraiser from 8:00 am – 11:00 am.
The Media and Public Relations Committee discussed to focus on advertising for 8-80 Days with a focus on 8-80 Days events each week in the paper (Jackie is going to work on doing this).
The Townships Committee reported that a couple of new police officers have been hired after a couple have left, one being Jordan Cuatt and the other Tanya Wiltz. Jackson County Ag Council had Springport FFA members at the meeting this morning and it was discussed the future status of the program with the recommendation to cut the Ag teacher position next school year. 
Under Old Business, there was no report.
Under New Business, was discussed in committee reports.
Under Open Forum, it was discussed that flowers for downtown will be ready for planting in a couple of weeks. FFA is planning Spartan Sparkle again this year on May 14th and looking for projects.  Please let Megan Merrill know if you have project ideas (517) 857-3475.
The next SAGA meeting will be Wednesday May 19, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Springport Township Hall.  Meeting adjourned at 8:50 pm.
