| Springport Area Growth Association The meeting was called to order by Lisa Mitchell at 7:00 pm at the Springport Township Hall. Members and guests present included: Tim and Linda Griffith, Megan Merrill, Jeff Mitchell, Dave and Theresa Lindsey, Dan Merritt, and Sherry Binkowski. Motion by Megan and seconded by Dan Merritt to approve the agenda. Motion carried. Motion by Dan and seconded by Jeff to approve the minutes as read. Motion carried. SAGA has a balance of $2,443.05 as of 4/16/08. Income is from the quilt show, poker tournament, etc. Lisa will be sending a certificate of appreciation to Shooters. Motion by Megan and seconded by Jeff to accept the treasurer’s report per audit. Motion carried. Under committee reports, the Events committee discussed Spartan Sparkle on May 9th. Project ideas or suggestions can be given to Megan Merrill at (517) 857-3475 or by email at megan.merrill@springportschools.net. It was suggested that students help put down mulch purchased by SAGA along the trees on Main Street. Motion by Megan and seconded by Jeff to allot $150 to purchase mulch for the trees to put down for Spartan Sparkle. The tentative 8-80 Days schedule was presented, along with the Spotlight on Springport businesses. Lisa said that she will be sending the solicitation letters to businesses for 8-80 Days along with a tentative agenda and a Cruise to the Races flyers. The Fundraising/Membership committee reported that the poker tournament on Saturday April 12th at Shooter’s brought in $699.00. The next tournament will be the Friday of 8-80 Daysl. The Quilt Show brought in $255.00. Under Old Business, there may be a delay in getting SAGA t-shirts and we are looking into another business to work with. Tim has prepared the metal work for the sign for viewing at the meeting, they look great. The next SAGA meeting will be on Wednesday May 21st at 7:00 pm at the Springport Township Hall.
