The regular meeting of the Springport Area Growth Association was called to order by President Lisa Mitchell at 7:06 pm.  Members present included Megan Merrill, Bill Russell, Jeff Mitchell, Dan Merritt, and Jackie Merritt.

Motion by Jackie and seconded by Megan to approve the agenda.  Minutes from the October meeting were read.  Motion by Jeff and seconded by Bill to accept the secretaries report.  Motion carried.

The Treasurer’s report discussed that the balance as of November 16, 2011 was $978.54; the Savings account balance is $1,380.85; CD balance of $6131.07.  Motion by Megan and seconded by Jeff to approve the treasurer’s report per audit.  Motion carried.

Under the Events committee, 2012 8-80 Days planning will be at the January meeting.  SAGA members are to email Jackie a list of “tasks” or jobs that need to be filled for 8-80 Days events.  The 8-80 Days surveys were summarized.  Discussion about working with a vendor who does pony-rides for 8-80 Days was discussed, Jeff will contact the vendor.   It was also discussed that arts & crafts and vendors be located on Main Street and by recycling area with a different price structure and times per location. 

Under the Fundraising committee, the 2012 Springport Calendar is for sale for $12.00 each.  Calendars can be purchased from SAGA members or bought at the Springport Library. 

Under Media and Public Relations, Nathan attended the meeting to discuss his Eagle Scout project, which would be to put in a picnic area.  Motion by Megan and seconded Jackie to donate up to $500 for the Eagle Scout project.  Motion carried.

Under Townships, they hired a new police chief, Chief Luce, who will officially start on Dec. 5th.  The grant for the community park written by the village was approved for roughly $11,000.  The Jackson County Ag Council met and have picked sites for the 2012 Farmfest tour, which will be in this area.  MSU Extension is making changes to the focus of extension agents including expanded outreach areas and costs for services, as reported via Bill Russell from the Ag Council.  

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday January 18, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the Springport Township Hall, this meeting will be the annual meeting and board members elections.  A Neighborhood watch meeting is scheduled for December 7, 2011 at 6:00 pm at the township hall.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:13 pm.
