Springport Area Growth Association The fund raising efforts of SAGA have broadened considerably this last month. Money has been donated to cover the cost of printing several of the streetscape project posters. They are very well done and are detailed with enough information to explain the project and its goals. These will be placed in several businesses in downtown Springport and the surrounding areas. Donation canisters will also be placed in prominent places and picked up on a regular schedule. A golf outing fund raiser has been suggested. Country Town Golf Course has a team of 3 persons working on that project. The date of the outing is scheduled for Saturday, July 23. It may become an annual event and would always fall on the Saturday after 8-80 Days. Another fund raiser in the works at Country Town Golf Course is being assisted by Mary Kay consultants, Heather Nichols and Debra Sebastian. They have been wanting to find a way to help SAGA. They will demo their line of products to the ladies on the Wednesday night golf league. They are planning on donating 25% of the proceeds to SAGA. The date has not yet been set. The fund raising committee assisted the Events committee in it’s fund raising efforts for 8-80 Days. A sponsorship letter was written and mailed. The mailing also included a schedule of 8-80 Days events and a Cruise to the Races flyer. A bank account has been open for SAGA. Danny Merritt is the Treasurer. Rosi Terpening will assist with the receipts and thank you notes. The Uptowners account has been turned over to SAGA, as 8-80 Days now comes under that umbrella.
