“Spring into Action” is the name of our current fund raising efforts. We felt this was a perfect name as Spring is now here and we want the community to spring into action for our efforts with the proposed streetscape. Donation canisters have been designed and are ready. Look for the spring-like canisters to be displayed at local businesses. A donation canister was passed around at the last SAGA meeting and $82.22 was collected.

A letter writing campaign is being proposed for a later date.

We discussed the posters and flyers the Media & Public Relations committee is working on regarding the streetscape project. A listing of possible businesses for the display of the posters and flyers was generated. There was discussion regarding key communicators and how they would deliver the message to the public.

The Springportmi.com website, although not complete, is being well received. We feel this will assist us in our fund raising efforts, as we can better communicate to the public our needs. We appreciate the efforts of Megan Burgess and her class. The Signal published a nice story with a photo regarding this new website.

The “Spotlight on Springport” program is being proposed as a way to highlight business in the area. Target date is Saturday of 8-80 Days. Several businesses have committed to participation. We may be able to attach a fund raiser with that or at least have the donation canisters at those business sites.
